Veterinarian for Small Animals in Iceland (m/f/d)

We are expanding our team and have a permanent full-time position available for a motivated Small Animal Veterinarian. The opportunity is based out of the Dýraspítalinn Glæsibær EHF. Dýraspítalinn Glæsibær is a spacious, modern veterinary hospital in Skagafjörður, Northwest Iceland. We provide comprehensive care for horses and small animals, combining ambulatory services with in-clinic diagnostics, surgery and inpatient care.
Our equine services include ambulatory visits, admission/inpatient options, surgery, dental/oral examinations and procedures, pre-purchase examinations, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy (incl. gastroscopy and respiratory endoscopy), as well as bloodwork/lab diagnostics and fecal analyses. For small animals, we provide general veterinary care including dentistry, surgery and hospitalization.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality veterinary care for small animal patients (consultations, diagnostics, treatment)
  • Perform and interpret diagnostics (e.g., ultrasound, digital X-ray, lab work)
  • Soft-tissue surgery and/or surgical assistance depending on experience
  • Dental work for small animals (depending on skill set)
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with owners/clients
  • Medical documentation and close teamwork

Your Profile:

  • Relevant Veterinary degree with eligibility for licensure/registration
  • At least one to two years of practical experience as an small animal veterinarian
  • Willingness to learn local specifics of veterinary practice in Iceland
  • Team player with a strong sense of responsibility and quality standards
  • Fluent English for daily work
  • Full driver’s license
