Looking for a Seasonal equine veterinarian – August/September 2024 to January 2025

Cambridge Equine Hospital is looking for a well-rounded equine veterinarian to join our existing team of 11 veterinarians (including Specialists in Equine Surgery and in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation) for the breeding season, September 2024 to January 2025. The ideal candidate would have at least 2 years of experience in general equine practice, with additional experience in neonatal medicine, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, and stud medicine being advantageous.

Cambridge Equine Hospital is situated in the heart of the Waikato and offers both first opinion and referral services. Our large client base is predominantly made up of thoroughbred studs, breakers, agistment farms and trainers, but we also care for a growing number of standardbreds, sport and pleasure horses. Our diagnostic equipment currently includes in-house laboratory, digital radiography, ultrasound, nuclear scintigraphy, portable video-endoscopy, lameness locator, televet ECG, and battery powered dental equipment.

The successful appointee will be an enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills and a focus on delivering the highest standard of practice. We have a great team of veterinarians, who enjoy working in a collaborative fashion. This position would suit someone who is looking to develop their skills in the Southern Hemisphere thoroughbred breeding season.

Candidates must be eligible for registration in New Zealand (details at www.vetcouncil.org.nz). Remuneration package will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications and will be discussed further upon application. Start and end dates are negotiable.

Applications/enquiries in confidence to Dr Alanna Zantingh at alannaz@ceh.co.nz. Applicants should provide a cover letter, CV, and three references with their contact details.
